This encaustic artwork is a vibrant landscape painting that features a winding, bright blue river cutting through a lush green terrain. The river flows from the background toward the foreground, creating a sense of depth and movement. On either side of the river, patches of varying green hues depict grassy and rocky areas with textured brushstrokes adding dimension and detail. In the background, softly rolling hills stretch across the horizon beneath a cloudy sky, painted with loose, expressive strokes that convey a natural and dynamic atmosphere. The overall composition blends rich colors and textures, capturing the essence of a serene riverside scene.
Introducing Vicki’s new line of encaustic pieces! Encaustic is a mix of beeswax, natural damar tree resin and pigment, layered on a birch cradle board. Each layer is fused using heat to make a durable surface once it has cured. Much like needle-felted wool, encaustic is wonderful for achieving pronounced texture and depth. Vicki’s use of saturated colour, enhanced texture and sweeping movement carries over nicely to this beautiful artform.
This original encaustic painting was hand-crafted with encaustic medium and pigment stick on a birch cradle board.
Artwork dimensions are 8 x 8”
Most of Vicki’s felted pieces include a frame or shadowbox to protect them at art shows and markets, however encaustic leaves a durable finish and therefore these pieces do not come framed. This allows you to match a frame to your decor, if you choose to frame it. Vicki enjoys the look of unframed encaustic and leave her personal pieces as they are sold here. Any frames you see on wax pieces are for staging purposes only. Most frames on images of wool pieces are included in the purchase price.
