The original encaustic wax artwork is a textured painting of a bison's head set against a vibrant, predominantly green and yellow background. The bison is rendered with rich, dark brown and black hues, its fur depicted with thick, layered brushstrokes that add a tactile quality. Two prominent, curved horns extend from its head, painted in lighter shades of white and gray that contrast sharply with the dark fur. The bison's eyes are glossy and black, conveying a sense of depth and life. The background features abstract, textured elements in shades of green, yellow, and touches of red, creating a dynamic and lively contrast to the bison's solid, stoic presence.
Movement, colour and texture are all abundant in the original wax painting that this card is based on. The original was hand crafted using pigmented encaustic medium and pigment sticks to embellish and highlight the wax features. This premium art print card includes an envelope and artwork details on the reverse side. It is based on a unique and original encaustic artwork called “Bison Approaching” by Canadian artist Vicki Sullivan.
These art print cards are dual purpose. Both a charming greeting card for sharing and a frameable and affordable art print. The combination of premium weight card stock and glossy finish produce a lovely art print suitable for framing and decorating your home or office. After it's been enjoyed and shared as a greeting card, this lovely card can easily be repurposed as framed art by cutting the back half off.
The card measures 12 x 18 cm and includes an envelope. Envelopes may vary in colour.
Encaustic pictures are produced by using a blow torch to fuse layers of pigmented wax to a birch panel. This is an incredibly tactile artform, viewers will want to reach out and touch all that beautiful waxy texture. The nature of beeswax allows the artist to sculpt out details in bas-relief style, scrape back layers to reveal the history hidden beneath. and use textured molds to create various effects: it is amazingly versatile!
Encaustic wax paintings or art prints can make a beautiful house-warming gift, Valentine's Day gift, anniversary gift, gift for her, gift for him, baby shower gift, Mother's Day gift, and Father's Day gift. Beeswax art is unique, one of a kind (OOAK) and gaining popularity. If you like to be on top of the trends, encaustic paintings aren't just another saturated market. If you haven't seen beeswax wall hangings in person, you haven't had the full experience. My most common feedback from customers is that the photos don't do it justice.
