The original needle-felted artwork is a richly textured depiction of a bear resting in water. The bear's face is the focal point, rendered in warm hues of brown with detailed fur suggesting a lifelike representation. The water below the bear is depicted with vibrant blues, greens, and subtle hints of other colors, creating a sense of movement and fluidity. The play of colors and light enhances the depth and realism of the scene.
Details in the original wool picture are built out in bas-relief style and accented with silk. This premium art print card includes an envelope and artwork details on the reverse side. It is based on a unique and original wool needle felted artwork called “Wilderness Dip” by Canadian fibre artist Vicki Sullivan. Textile art is great for highlighting texture and colour.
The combination of premium weight card stock and glossy finish produce a lovely art print suitable for framing and decorating your home or office. After it's been enjoyed and shared as a greeting card, this lovely card can easily be repurposed as framed art by cutting the back half off.
The card measures 14 x 14cm and includes an envelope.
Needle felted pictures are produced by using a barbed needle to mix wool fibers together until they cling, or "felt" into a textile painting styled picture. I'm in Canada where we spell it "fibre" but others spell it "fiber." However you spell it, silk, yarn, viscose, banana fibre and ribbon are often incorporated with the base always being sheep wool. This is an incredibly tactile artform, viewers will want to reach out and touch all that beautiful woolly texture. The nature of wool allows the artist to sculpt out details in bas-relief style, to twist and roll the fibers to create various effects: it is amazingly versatile! Silk adds a gorgeous sheen for those special highlights. Wool nepps are small balls of wool which are often used in the foreground for details that pop out.
Wool paintings or art prints can make a beautiful house-warming gift, Valentine's Day gift, anniversary gift, gift for her, gift for him, baby shower gift, Mother's Day gift, and Father's Day gift. Needle felt art is unique, one of a kind (OOAK) and still an emerging artform. If you like to be on top of the trends, needle felted paintings aren't just another saturated market. If you haven't seen felted wall hangings in person, you haven't had the full experience. My most common feedback from customers is that the photos don't do it justice.
If you are an artist familiar with painting, I encourage you to try wool felt painting and explore the wonders of this amazing medium. If you're wanting to look up more information on this stunning and versatile artform, it also goes by the names of dry felting, 2D felting, making wool pictures, wool painting, needle felted painting, needle felt artwork and needle felt landscape art. Needle felting is especially suited to making wool animals and wool landscapes.
