This photo encaustic painting presents a dynamic scene of a fox captured mid-leap, descending skillfully onto a snowy landscape. The fox's fur showcases rich, warm tones of red and brown that contrast vividly against the cool, textured snow below. Delicate, sparse grasses and twigs emerge from the snow, adding fine detail and subtle depth. Above the fox, a deep, vibrant blue sky with soft gradients and subtle cloud formations provides a serene, natural backdrop. The piece balances motion and stillness, using vivid colors and intricate texturing to evoke the quiet energy of a winter moment in the wild.
Introducing Vicki’s new line of encaustic pieces! Encaustic is a mix of beeswax, natural damar tree resin and pigment, layered on a cradled birch board. Each layer is fused using heat to make a durable surface once it has cured. Much like needle-felted wool, encaustic is wonderful for achieving pronounced texture and depth. Vicki’s use of saturated colour, enhanced texture and sweeping movement carries over nicely to this beautiful artform. Photo encaustic makes use of a photo element enhanced with beeswax paint.
This original photo encaustic painting was hand-crafted with a photo, encaustic medium and pigment stick on a cradled birch board.
Artwork dimensions: 8 × 8”
Most of Vicki’s felted pieces include a frame or shadowbox to protect them at art shows and markets, however encaustic leaves a durable finish and therefore these pieces do not come framed. This allows you to match a frame to your decor, if you choose to frame it. Vicki enjoys the look of unframed encaustic and leave her personal pieces as they are sold here. Any frames you see on wax pieces are for staging purposes only. Most frames on images of wool pieces are included in the purchase price.
