This encaustic beeswax artwork is a textured painting of a lamb resting on the ground. The lamb is depicted with a white textured fur that contrasts against a vibrant background. Its cheerful mouth suggests the lamb is bleating or smiling. The ears are large and pointed, with a mix of brown and cream colors adding depth. The background is a rich combination of blue tones with some abstract patterns and swirls crafted from art papers, as well as patches of red squares, adding a dynamic element to the composition. The ground beneath the lamb is rendered in earthy browns and yellows, textured to resemble soil or straw. The painting blends realism in the lamb's form with abstract and expressive elements in the background.
Introducing Vicki’s new line of encaustic pieces! Encaustic is a mix of beeswax, natural damar tree resin and pigment, layered on a birch cradled board. Each layer is fused using heat to make a durable surface once it has cured. Much like needle-felted wool, encaustic is wonderful for achieving pronounced texture and depth. Vicki’s use of saturated colour, enhanced texture and sweeping movement carries over nicely to this beautiful artform.
This original encaustic painting was hand-crafted with encaustic medium and pigment stick on a birch cradled board.
