This encaustic beeswax artwork depicts a serene natural landscape featuring a vibrant turquoise-blue body of water in the foreground, transitioning to lighter shades near the sandy shore. A waterfall cascades down a rocky cliff on the right side, with the water flowing into the pool below. Surrounding the waterfall and water, lush green foliage and trees densely cover the cliff and landscape, adding depth and richness to the scene. The sky is lightly clouded, providing a gentle contrast to the vivid colors of the water and greenery. The texture and layering of the paint create a realistic and dynamic representation of this tranquil environment.

Introducing Vicki’s new line of encaustic pieces! Encaustic is a mix of beeswax, natural damar tree resin and pigment, layered on a cradled birch board. Each layer is fused using heat to make a durable surface once it has cured. Much like needle-felted wool, encaustic is wonderful for achieving pronounced texture and depth. Vicki’s use of saturated colour, enhanced texture and sweeping movement carries over nicely to this beautiful artform.

This original encaustic painting was hand-crafted with encaustic medium and pigment stick on a cradled birch board.
